The Dudes' gastronomical journey kicked off in 2015 with The Dudes Deli, a Bar & Grill in Kreuzberg. This low-key locale rapidly gained popularity among a diverse mix of locals, ex-pats, and globetrotters. However, after three thrilling and somewhat tiring years, we decided to shutter the establishment, taking a breather before setting off on our next venture.
In 2021, collaborating with Grill Master Michael Heiden, we established Markthalle Pfefferberg, a sprawling 700 sqm dining hall in the centre of Berlin designed to cater to a myriad of palates.
Upon stepping into Pfefferberg, you will begin a culinary tour, with stalls representing different continents. From North America to Asia and Europe, all are housed within this spacious market hall, each section radiating its own visual style and enticing aromas.
Your first encounter is Valla Vino, a sanctuary for wine lovers, showcasing a selection of organic wines and unique pantry items. Venturing further, Gulli Burger offers Indian soul food, and Kuma Ramen presents a unique range of Ramen that redefines 'fresh'. They even provide meal kits packed with all the essentials for those in the mood for a home-cooking adventure.
The star of Pfefferberg is Taquería El Oso. Under Michael Heiden's direction, this stall delivers traditional Mexican tacos with a Lebanese spin. The Al Pastor, featuring spit-roasted, seasoned pork, is legendary. Complementing this is La Ola, a Mexican seafood vendor. With a multitude of other merchants and a rotating pop-up space showcasing emerging stars and local favourites, Pfefferberg is the ideal venue for indecisive foodies.
Naturally, no gastronomic journey is complete without an array of beverages. Pfefferberg’s bar has a drink to suit every occasion and mood, from homemade lemonades and coffee to natural wines, beers, top-shelf cocktails, and frozen margaritas - because when in Mexico...
Situated at the foot of Prenzlauer Berg on Schönhauser Allee, Markthalle Pfefferberg is not just a dining spot - it's a culinary destination that warrants a visit when in Berlin.
