Enter Marea — Spanish for "tide" — a new line of clothing and artwork from longtime mcbess collaborator Alan Berry Rhys. Born in Argentina, Alan has built his life around fishing, surfing, and time spent near the water.
When the idea of a collaboration with The Dudes came up, we knew it could become a truly distinctive addition to the range — something that captured the simple joys of coastal life and the exhilaration of surfing and fishing around the world with friends. That idea became Marea — The Dudes Ocean Division.
To bring it to life, we traveled to Ericeira to visit Semente Surfboards, an independent surfboard factory run by Nick Urrichio and Miguel Katzenstein. Shaping boards since 1982, Semente has long supported the local surf scene in one of Europe's most legendary surf destinations. For this collaboration, they hand-shaped two Marea surfboards — classic silhouettes brought to life with Alan's illustrations.
This first release introduces Alan's illustrative style to The Dudes' world. Future seasonal drops will expand the Marea line with new designs across shirting, heavier pieces like hoodies and sweaters, and a women's range.
